Wow, have you actually got some 3D-ness going on there, like in the official games (like diamond/pearl)? I didn't know that was possible with Essentials... I'm not sure what your difficulty is with the character - are you trying to change him so it makes it look more like he's going up a hill? I think the important thing is to make sure his movements stay as fast as they normally would (I have a problem playing most fan-made games that used essentials, because they seemed to be quite slow to play, compared to the fan-made hacked roms that run using emulators where you could speed thing up (like making the game run at 700% faster than normal o.0). If you can overcome the speed issue I'd totally play this.
It's awesome! I have a suggestion, though: you might want to smooth out the places where the hill starts and ends instead of letting it look weird and choppy, I guess, but other than that it's fine. Are there any animations on the "zzz"?
If you want to change the characters graphic, just make other character sets (like the set you can choose from in the beginning, i think you can make more) (like if you wanted to choose between a boy and girl) Just make more of those with the character sets you need and change it to that character temporarily. If any of that makes sense...
Oh wait i remember my idea. You can do this, but just make the character be blank. And have a different event be the graphic of the character. Then just change that events graphic instead of your own characters. I think that would work. Again... if that made sense lol
I already thought of that, i just needed to coordinate hero's movement with character movement... without delays. This makes the eventing a bit annoying, so I decided to ask Help to make it in the "comfortable way" for every situation.
The problem is that RmXP move command for diagonal movements works with 45° angles. This slope is aproximately 15° angle. Via moving the sprite just for 45° the effect is reaaaaally bad. And 45° slopes are impossible. They'll just be haaaard work in real life. For slopes that covers a great gradient we humans use stairs. Pretty much. XD
So I may have worked changing characterset height progressively until it reached again its normal status. This is impossible with Essentials, because it doesn't let us change hero graphic in a comfortable way. ;_;
